I’ve been gone from Tumblr for almost ten days.
- Why: Tumblr is a ruiner. Everyone on Tumblr knows this. You use the internet more often because of it, and studies have shown the internet shrinks the amount of gray matter in your brain. An internet addict’s brain even looks similar to that of someone with a gambling addiction. You also acquire short attention spans, etc. A summary here, and the full article here. I wanted to spend more time on my schoolwork, since midterms were coming up, and I also wanted to spend more time doing something useful. Without quitting the internet, I would not have been able to do many of the things I did the past ten days. Also, I wanted to be able to say I went a full week without Tumblr. Once I managed that, I told myself to wait until the start of Winter Break, which is technically today since school let out already.
- What’s Going to Happen: I’m going to resume using Tumblr. I don’t know how I’m going to reduce my Tumblr usage, since it was so hard to do earlier, I just quit it altogether. Also, I’m going to do this thing I like to call “F*** that Tumblr Sh*t”. “F*** that Tumblr Sh*t” is when I look through certain blogs and see what new content they have, since I follow 104 people and going through the dash would be too time-consuming (especially since I’ve been gone ten days). Blogs I would look at during FTTS, for example, are ask blogs, since I would want to see any new storylines and happenings. There are also other blogs I would look at, such as Dating Tips from the Doctor, just plainly because I love their content. I don’t ever do a normal blog, because normal blogs have MUCH more content than DTFTD, for example. A normal blog, for example, is me. I don’t specialize in anything. DTFTD isn’t going to have 100+ posts a day.
- Finally: I’m completely shocked that I actually gained followers while I was gone. I have 169. Haha, guys. Have a happy holiday season! And for those who celebrate Hanukkah, a three-day late Happy (end of) Hanukkah!
